Tumor Suppressor Gene as a Predictive Marker for Chemotherapy in Colorectal Cancer

A tumor suppressor gene, whose mutation or deletion is frequently present in colorectal cancer patients, is also active in signaling cell death after treatment with certain chemotherapeutic agents. Presence of this gene in such cancer patients therefore indicates better prognosis after chemotherapy. This gene could be used as prognostic marker for colorectal cancer patients.
