Tracking of Brain Tumor with Stem Cells to Deliver Treatment

Neural stem cells have the ability to detect abnormal cells even at a great distance and migrate specifically towards them. Taking advantage of this character, scientists have engineered such stem cells to produce tumoricidal agent. Researchers have demonstrated that engineered neural stem cells producing interleukin 12 track down extremely aggressive brain tumors that are highly resistant to therapy.
