Volume 11Issue Number 9 September 2002 ISSN 10593802 Imatinib Mesylate is Effective in a Subgroup of Patients with Myeloproliferative DiseaseImatinib mesylate, a small organic molecule, induces durable responses in patients with chronic myeloproliferative diseases associated with activation of a growth factor receptor. This receptor is activated by phosphorylation of tyrosine molecule. Imatinib mesylate inhibits this phosphorylation.
