Expression of specific genes on specific chromosome can be used to identify Wilms? tumor patients whose disease will recur. Most importantly the technique can identify those patients with minimum risk, thus avoiding harsh therapy that may lead to serious problems. A rapid technique that screens chromosome 1q region for gene expression and detects two regions whose differential expression can stratify patients, has been developed.
