A Novel Therapeutic Approach Combining Trastuzumab (Herceptin Genentech) with the chemotherapeutic agents docetaxel (Taxotere, Aventis) and cisplatin (Platinol, Bristol Myers Squibb), significantly shrinks tumors in women with locally advanced and inflammatory breast cancer which overexpress HER2/neu protein when given before surgery, according to study findings reported at the Annual Meeting of ASCO.
