Gleevec Continues to Succeed Against CML and GIST

The fastest approved drug in FDA history, STI-571 (Gleevec or imatinib), continues to live up to the title of the ?poster boy? for targeted therapy. Clinical trials show that this daily oral drug may prevent early chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) from progressing and appears to have long-lasting benefits in treating gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).
