COX-2 Inhibitors Works as Well in COX-2-negative Cancer Cell Lines

Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) is an inducible enzyme that produces prostaglandins that may stimulate cell proliferation leading to cancer. This enzyme activity is found to be elevated in various types of cancers including colon cancer. Selective inhibitors of this enzyme can prevent or inhibit cancer in COX-expressing cancer cells. It is now demonstrated that one of the inhibitor is as effective as anticancer agent in COX-negative cancer cell lines.
