CW January 2001Issue Number 1 January 2001 ISSN 10593802 Rituximab Failures Show Promising Results with BexxarWhen rituximab, the monoclonal antibody, fails to induce responses for non-Hodgkin?s lymphoma (NHL) patients, the combination of tositumomab and iodine 131I (Bexxar) appears to produce durable complete responses. In a multi-center study of 40 patients with various types of NHL who failed to respond to or relapsed following rituximab treatment, 70% of the patients responded to Bexxar and 40% achieved a complete response, reports Sandra Horning of Stanford University, Stanford, CA., at the recent 42nd Annual Meeting of the American Society of Hematology in San Francisco.
