Nausea, pain, and abdominal manipulation that are integral part of colonoscopy procedure may stimulate secretion of arginine vasopressin, a pituitary hormone that plays part in water retention. Physicians should be aware of such complication, because this may contribute to psychological or neurological problem after colonoscopy.
