Mosaic Blood Vessels in Tumors: A New Target for Cancer Treatment

New blood vessels are formed in solid tumors to supply them with nutrients. About 15% of vessels in colon carcinomas are mosaic, that is, the luminal lining is interspersed with tumor cells. Killing these tumor cells can impair blood flow in these vessels causing significant antivascular effect.
