Gene Profiling Provides Insights into Predicting Cancer Survival

Gene expression profiling may help predict survival outcomes for patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBC), particularly the large majority of patients at intermediate risk of disease progression, says Margaret Shipp, an oncologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA. She utilized gene expression profiling to delineate DLBC, and accurately assigned patients to risk subgroups by separating cancers that were curable from those that were fatal or refractory.
