CW August 2001Issue Number 8 August 2001 ISSN 10593802 Ovarian Failure after Chemotherapy Leads to Bone LossA new study shows that very early in chemotherapy premenopausal breast cancer patients, who experience irregular menstrual cycles, also show significant bone loss. Such chemotherapy-induced ovarian function loss observed in majority of breast cancer patients can cause osteoporosis in long run. These patients should be monitored for bone loss and treated accordingly.
