CW December 2001Issue Number 12 December 2001 ISSN 10593802 Radioimmunotherapy in Non-Hodgkin?s LymphomaNon-Hodgkin?s lymphoma (NHL) belongs among the lymphoproliferative diseases, an umbrella term for a diverse group of leukemias and malignant nodal adenopathies; the common denominator is the uncontrolled proliferation of poorly differentiated B or T lymphocytes. The onset of NHL may be insidious, since it is indolent for long periods of time, with asymmetrical, painless lymph nodes detected sometimes by the patient. It is one of the hematological malignancies that have evolved from being untreatable (with an expected life span of two years after diagnosis) to a reasonable outlook, with a remission rate of 60 to 80 percent and a better than 50 percent cure rate. The recently introduced targeted immunotherapy is expected to improve the cure rate even more.
