New Anticancer Drugs Based on Inhibition of Signaling Proteins

Known as oncoproteins, a variety of proteins which cause cancer does so by sending signals to the cell nucleus to divide, multiply and proliferate. A cascade of reactions is involved in this process of signal transduction. Pharmaceutical companies are developing new anticancer drugs ? in fact some of them are in Phase I and II trials ? which will disable the signal transduction in cancer cells, and thus terminate cell proliferation.
