A Link Between Cancer and Aging

Normal cells have limited life span, they do not divide indefinitely and division is arrested by a process termed cellular or replicative senescence. Replicative senescence is thought to be a tumor suppression mechanism, at least in young organisms, and also a contributor to aging. In older organisms, senescent cells may actually contribute to carcinogenesis.
