A Novel Serum Marker for Ovarian Cancer Screening

Prostasin, an enzyme usually present in prostatic secretion, is found to be elevated in ovarian cancer cells. By using the powerful microarray technology, overexpression of prostasin gene in cancer cells can be measured in a short period of time. In combination with CA-125, a marker for advanced ovarian cancer, prostasin could be used for screening or as a tumor marker.
